Complete Custom Kitchen Renovation in Old Farm House in Essa 


This renovation of a historic farmhouse in Essa (near the Tango Creek golf course) is a 2026-relevant masterclass in balancing structural restoration with high-end custom design.

The project went beyond aesthetics, addressing long-standing structural damage to create a modern family hub. 

The Story:
Restoring a Piece of History

The journey began in the basement, where the team reinforced a sagging support beam—a remnant of fire damage from years prior. Once the home’s foundation was secure, the focus shifted to transforming the outdated, partitioned layout into an open, functional space.
Key Features of the Renovation:
  • Structural & Layout Overhaul: A new entryway was cut into the living room, featuring a space-saving pocket door. The project also included complete ceiling drywalling and updated electrical for modern pot lights and decorative pendant lighting.
  • Foundation of Comfort: The floors were professionally sheeted and fitted with a Schluter Ditra uncoupling membrane, followed by a custom heated wire system for luxurious in-floor heating. High-quality tile was sourced from Tile Master.
  • Custom Cabinetry: The kitchen features custom-built antique white shaker cabinets complemented by a massive wall of pantries for maximum storage. A standout feature is the corner cabinet with custom stained-glass doors.
  • The Showpiece Island: A custom-sprayed cherry wood island serves as the room's centerpiece, topped with stunning Blue Pearl granite.
  • Finishing Touches: The design is tied together with a classic subway tile backsplash and a custom-built hood vent that enhances the "farmhouse chic" aesthetic. 
By integrating modern luxuries like heated floors with traditional craftsmanship, the project successfully brought this old farmhouse into the 2020s without losing its historic soul.
